Tsunami

Printable Version

By jessie23

Playing in the yard on one beautiful day,
With nothing to bother them or get in their way.

Families on vacation spending time on the warm sand,
Listening to the sound of waves crashing and of bands.

Smiling, laughing, and playing together,
Thinking their lives will last forever.

Then one day after Christmas had passed,
A tsunami devoured the cities causing pain that is sure to last.

Children run to try to find high ground,
With the wave following them without a sound.

As the wave crashes people are swallowed,
Into death their path has followed.

Parents and children are trying to flee,
With water rushing up already to their knees.

Then comes the time when they are separated from each other,
Where sometimes only one survives: father, child, or even the mother.

As the wave is done the place is drowned,
With thousands of dead bodies floating around.

People become missing as days become to pass,
Bringing pain to those relatives that is sure to last.

Soon enough the death toll became outraged,
Like towns that have been taken over by a deadly plague.

With family gone and nowhere to call home,
They can only remember memories how together they've grown.

And as history will pass by we all will remember,
How many lives were demolished by a tsunami on the 26th of December.
