WITH OUT YOU THERE IS NO ME By GHETTO POET
They say we all have angels watching over us So you must have descended from the sky It’s because of you that I became a man It’s because of you that I believe I can fly Single handedly taking three boys and turning them into men You are my mother, my father, my teacher, my best friend You are hard as a rock- yet gentle as a dove In the thunder storm of life You showered me patience, guidance, and unconditional love You are the sun that brightens up my day, The trunk on our family tree, every breath I take, every move I make I say thanks because without you, there is no me Having to deal with longs days and short pay Men who promised you the world one minute And then were gone the next day Or the ones that put their hands on you When you wouldn’t play their game Then seeing you crying at the kitchen table I would have given anything to take away the pain The next day going to work and coming home tired and sore Working yourself to death so we could have everything you didn’t have And so much more If I could give you the world- I’d still be in your debt You have my heart, my soul, my love, my respect So my gift to you is to be the good man you want me to be Thank you momma because Without you, there is no me.
